A Month of Witches and Magick- What I Learned About Transmutation Circles- Day 12

Well, I'm not feeling much smarter. Now I'm back to looking at circles in general and trying to figure out what the symbols in the circle. If you thought I'd have knowledge to share with you by this point, you are sadly mistaken. Sigh.

Pretty as the pictures may be, I might be better off just studying math.

Or sacred geometry. Yeah, let's try that. Heck, we might even get back to alchemy.

Well, we do know some things about circles in general, if only because they have been a constant in our practice, things such as the circle being protective, and a container - so they keep the good in and the ill out. I notice that in a lot of the circles, there is a tangled, barbed wire looking circle on the outer rim, and/or words which are invocations. I am wondering if some of the power of the circle comes from the making of it, so perhaps to make one is the key and maybe the way we activate them. ? For instance the most intriguing aspects of the circles to most of us are the choice of symbols and patterns used as well as the unknown creator.(as in the crop circles.) That could hint at the importance of the actual creation of the circles.

Aine is correct. The magick is in the making of the circle. And not just in the making of the circle itself but also in the components which make up the inside. (I had an epiphany in reading your posts a few days back) The outer circle(s) would not only help contain the magick but also strengthen it and the outer circles will act as a defense against anything dark or malicious. The symbols or designs or words will change depending on what forces or elements a person is working with. The power of any magick is in the focus a person applies when working the spell. The making of Transmutation Circles requires a great deal of focus so I would imagine that the magic created would be quite powerful.
I remember seeing in one of my older magick books, many spells which include the making of a circle with specific runic forms inside it.
