Some Thoughts on Circles

I make notes to my self. Several times throughout the year I review all my little notes. Sometimes they provide helpful reminders. Sometimes I don't resolve anything and I write more notes as I try to understand the jumble that is my life. Other times it is a complete waste of ink and paper. And no, I don't think making notes on my computer or phone is the same. Magick is done with paper and pen, possibly because writing is becoming an arcane art.

So today I went through my wish book and I found a note about circles-

Circles- magick spheres. What I want I create in a Mindlight and bring into me. What I banish I push out of my personal space into the void where it shatters or bursts into flame or is dispersed by the wind or is swallowed by vast water.

What do you do with circles? Is this something you use often or is it something you were taught early on in Wicca 101 and never gave anymore thought to it?

Once we were taught that we had to be in a circle to do magic. Now I use circles to focus and magnify (for healing mainly) and to contain and protect. Circles are not used in ritual anymore, as I don't really have formal rituals. Most of my circles are formed - they are tangible, most times with stones, and used more in magical work rather than a mandatory part of a ritual.
